Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword

The steel basket hilt composed of a large single plate pierced with quatrefoils, trefoils and hearts, with wavy bars linked to the main guard, and decorated with shallow flutes. The small domed pommel with flutes and separate pommel button, the wood grip covered with leather and bound with copper ribbon, fitted with an earlier German broad double-edged blade, with three fullers stamped with sickle-marks.
