Swords in Movies - The Scorpion King - Balthazar’s Sword
- In Michael Clarke Duncan’s memory. R.I.P. December 10, 1957-September 3, 2012
This is a stunt sword made for Balthazar’s (Michael Clarke Duncan) character in the 2002 action film The Scorpion King. Swords such as this can be seen used by Balthazar during the climatic fight against Mathayus at oasis.
This sword is made from hard rubber and features production scratches on the silver painted blade due to fight sequences. The hilt is also made of hard rubber and features an ivory painted faux curved bone handle lined with ruby studs (the rubies are also rubber).
The sword measures approximately 35”(89cm) in length and is in good condition with wear and paint chipping due to production use. The sword was inspired by the Turkish yatagan (the hilt) and the machete (the blade).
