Yatagan Sword

Yatagan with single-edged slightly curved blade, decorated with extensive gold damascening in the form of large panels of floral design issuing a series of palmettes and including, on one side, a talismanic numerical grid, and on the other lines of naskh.
Inscribed with the owner’s name, “Tatarcia Husayn Agha”, and makers name, “i’amal Sheikh ‘Ali Efendi”. The chappe has further similar damascening, the ox horn hilt being of typical form with split flaring pommel and set with four stones backed with small rosette finials. The cross guard has a further damascened inscription.
