Swords in Gaming - Assassin’s Creed - Vlad Tepes’ Sword
Vlad Tepes’ Sword was a powerful sabre used in close-quarters combat, and was the personal weapon of Vlad Tepes. Capable of dispatching any foe, the sword was found in the Impaler’s hanging cell, which was located within the infamous leader’s prison. The Assassin Ezio Auditore obtained this weapon after he explored the prison where it was kept.
The mission which allows players to obtain this weapon, “The Impaler’s Tomb”, could only be unlocked through pre-ordering certain collector’s editions of Revelations, or by purchasing The Lost Archive DLC. Vlad Tepes’ Sword has unique killing animations, similar to the Dagger of Brutus in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
The sword’s design and structure is that of a kilij, with the front edge of the blade being weighted for optimal slicing and hacking power. Still, the blade and shape of the sword as presented in the game looks more similar to a falchion.
The Multiplayer persona, the Count, does not use this weapon, despite being based off Vlad the Impaler. When Ezio wields Vlad Tepes’ Sword, enemy morale is reduced by 15 percent, again, much like the Dagger of Brutus in the previous installment.
Also, the Vlad of Tepes in the Assassin’s Creed universe was covered with a short “documentary” video for this blog’s project. LINK HERE!
