Revolutionary War period ‘Hessian’ Soldier Folding Pocket Knife
Dated circa 1775-1780, this is a Rare 18th Century Revolutionary War period “Hessian” Soldier Folding Pocket Knife made of bone and horn (1775 - 1780). One of only a handful of known examples of this kind, the folding pocket knife is made of carved bone and horn.
The top section depicts the headgear, face, hair queue and epaulets of a “Hessian” soldier. The body, made of pressed horn, shows on one side an arm holding a sword. Very good overall condition considering its age.
